The Grand National

The Grand National, an event that is prominent in British culture, has an estimated worldwide audience of over 600 million people in over 140 countries. The 2017 Randox Health Grand National took place on Saturday 8th April and ITV Racing’s coverage of One For Arthur’s victory drew a five-minute peak audience of 8.2m on free-to-air terrestrial television.

For this event MOOV provided experienced graphics operators, with extensive knowledge of the sport, designers and virtual graphics staff. The viewing experience was enhanced by using the TOG Virtual Graphics system to provide furlong markers, finish lines and a winning jockey’s silk graphics on all of the twenty-two races throughout the three day festival.

The Grand National is the most watched race within the sport which explains why the re-run is the second most watched and therefore why a whole separate production goes in to this. MOOV provide sophisticated graphics not only showing the fence names for this twenty minute analysis, but also list the fallers for every fence. This data is generated via a team of race readers and displayed by MOOV in a webpage format for productions’ internal use.

Currently we are working alongside tracking companies to provide unique and innovative graphics.
