BBC Studio AR

 In Projects

We’re live at Wimbledon in the main BBC studio!

This year, we have assembled an impressive set with a giant ‘Magic Wall’ serving up ace augmented graphics of players and a virtual tennis court with match schedules. BBC Sport’s studio is using RT Software’s 3D-Live render engine and the Mo-Sys #StarTracker on a jib and 2 pedestals. This is the first time Mo-Sys established camera tracking system StarTracker is being used for the BBC’s famous coverage of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships.

Extending the studio with AR graphics allows the BBC to enhance the viewer experience with high impact graphics that would not be possible in a traditional studio. AR Graphics include virtual life size cutouts of players on glass plinths in front of the presenters, and a virtual “Magic Window” looking out over a 3D render of a tennis court with results and match data laid on to the court surface.
