We are looking for a Technical Lead to drive the development and implementation of our virtual studios.

You’ll be responsible for overseeing a team of virtual and creative technicians, ensuring a smooth process in our technical operations. You’ll be responsible for shaping our direction of MOOV’s technical offerings, whilst improving processes and promoting best practices across the team.

This role would suit someone who has extensive technical knowledge, complimented with experience in resource planning, collaborating with other departments and deciding project requirements. You’ll be an individual who is comfortable working within a hybrid role between home and, various locations throughout London including West London and also Manchester.

We are a leading sports, entertainment and events graphics company offering an array of services including virtual studios, augmented reality, on-screen graphics and graphics software development.

We work with some of the top UK and international broadcasters and production companies, such as BBC, Sunset+Vine, IMG, ITV, CBS Sports and Warner Bros. Discovery. We’ve also been BT Sport’s graphics partner since 2013, working with them across a varied sporting calendar including the Champions League, MotoGP and Boxing.

What you’ll do as a Technical Lead

Your duties will vary from time-to-time dependant on the workflow however some of your main duties will include the following:

  • Be responsible for leading technical partnership discussions, make strategic decisions for our technology selection to help drive direction, improve tools and processes.
  • Provide regular insights into technology roadmaps.
  • Lead and line manage a team of virtual and creative technicians, ensuring MOOV’s operations are executed at a high-level and run smoothly throughout.
  • Provide insights and be responsible for making key decisions on our technology selection across an array of different projects.
  • Support in optimising Unreal Engine deployment for broadcast workflows
  • Create, deliver, and implement support documentation for the engineering team.
  • Implement clear disaster recovery plans for studio shows and on-air quality assurance.
  • Test and validate newly released hardware and software solutions for virtual and broadcast graphics and modify systems as and when needed.
  • Manage resources and estimate project requirements.
  • Translate complex technical information into a business-oriented language, align technical initiatives with the MOOV’s overall strategy and vision.

 

What we’re looking for from a Technical Lead:

  • A champion of best practices, team performance, quality control, reliability, and scalability.
  • Experience in leading a technical team within broadcast graphics and/or virtual productions.
  • Be a collaborator, someone who enjoys working with different departments and can share insights, knowledge, and experience of the market.
  • Have at least 4 years’ experience within a broadcast or virtual production setting
  • An exceptional understanding of production requirements and can translate them into technical requirements for new and future projects.
  • Familiar with virtual production and film/tv production workflows
  • Experience with VR/AR equipment and software
  • Knowledge and commercial experience of VP software within the market including Brainstorm, Viz, Disguise, Pixotope, Brompton and, Zero Density
  • Strong technical planning skills and a proven track record of successful technical delivery with a wealth of experience in a studio environment.
  • Have a good level of experience in understanding Unreal Engine, Unity, and other gaming software’s.
